Description

Avery Dennisonโ„ข FT 7951 is a high-performance double coated scrim tape designed with a dispersion-based modified acrylic adhesive. This tape is engineered specifically for bonding polyurethane foam, polyester fibers, felts, and fabrics to a broad variety of substrates. It offers excellent adhesion to medium and low surface energy materials including polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), thermoplastic olefin (TPO), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polystyrene, and painted metals.

Applications

FT 7951 is ideal for general-purpose foam bonding applications such as automotive gaskets, sound deadening materials, insulation in building and construction, appliance assembly, and various industrial sub-assemblies. Its versatility makes it a trusted choice for both industrial manufacturing and commercial uses where durable and reliable bonding is essential.

Features

Dispersion-based modified acrylic adhesive: Provides excellent adhesion performance with environmental compliance (APEO free).

APE0-free adhesive: Environmentally friendly formulation with reduced harmful components.

High initial tack: Ensures immediate bonding for fast part placement.

Easy release glassine liner: Facilitates smooth handling and application.

Broad range of service temperatures: Operates effectively from -40ยฐF (-40ยฐC) up to 310ยฐF (155ยฐC).

Polyester scrim reinforcement: Offers excellent dimensional stability and tear resistance.

Excellent resistance to solvents, chemicals, plasticizers, temperature, and UV light: Ensures durability in harsh environments.

Medium resistance to moisture: Suitable for applications with moderate moisture exposure.

Good conformability: Adapts well to flat or curved surfaces for versatile bonding.

Excellent water jet and die cutting characteristics: Enables precise converting and manufacturing.

Benefits

Provides strong, immediate adhesion to a wide range of substrates, enhancing manufacturing efficiency.

Improves tear resistance for durability and reliable handling.

Ensures long-lasting bonds even in challenging environmental conditions.

Suitable for complex surface contours, maintaining bond integrity on uneven or curved surfaces.

Enables high-quality converting processes for customized tape shapes and sizes.

Application Techniques

For optimal adhesion, ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from grease or oil before applying the tape.

Bond strength is dependent on the degree of adhesive-to-surface contact, so apply with appropriate pressure.

Different surface types (firm, flexible, rigid) and environmental conditions (pressure, temperature, time) will affect the ultimate bond performance.

Storage and Shelf Life

The product has a shelf life of one year when stored in its original packaging under controlled conditions:

Temperature: 18-22ยฐC (64-72ยฐF)

Relative Humidity: 30-70%

Store away from direct sunlight.
