The Duke of Edinburgh’s Commonwealth Study Conference Canada 2023 Testimonial

There are some events in life that are truly once in a lifetime, and CSC2023 is unquestionably one of them.  Most of us talk about, encourage, and promote diversity as if it were a wonderful thing to do without truly knowing and embracing its potential.

I genuinely recognized that embracing diversity and inclusion is not only a diplomatic good thing to do, but it is also necessary in order to generate a positive influence that is not only more successful but also sustainable and morally upright.

Multiple myths were busted and new views developed when some of the most dynamic leaders and changemakers from various industries and sectors around the world met and discussed in a format that was structured enough to be organized and meaningful yet informal enough to be a free and fearless environment.

It’s like going on a journey where you encounter numerous paradigms, problems, and cultures that are different from your own yet remain real and equally significant.

Believe me, you are not the same person you were when you arrived at the conference. Your perspectives have changed and improved as a result of the amalgamation of the experiences of representatives from many countries and sectors.

You not only become a better professional but also a better human being, which is a non-negotiable requirement for a great leader.

The global professional network you create with some of the top professionals in the world is incredible, but nothing compares to the lifelong ties you create with some of the most wonderful people on the planet.

It is also a fantastic honor to represent your country and assist in breaking down many stereotypes and misconceptions that exist throughout the world, as well as some of the perceptions we have as a country and as individuals about other countries.

I’ve noticed that, despite so much negativity in the world, talking to people makes you realize that the world isn’t all that horrible. Perhaps we have ceased emphasizing the positive and instead focused on highlighting the negative.

The journey has been absolutely transformative. I am a much better, thankful, humble, connected, informed, calm, understanding, and wiser human being now.

After literally hundreds of sessions and engagements with some of the most prolific speakers and changemakers, as well as equally inspiring local people from all diverse sectors with topics ranging from sustainability to health, culture to economy, and so on, one thing that I realized was that despite our cultural differences on the outside, we are so very similar on the inside.

That we are all children of the same mother earth.

This journey taught me the true meaning of the famous Indian Hindu phrase

“Vasudeva kutumbakam” from the Maha Upanishads, which translates as “the world is one family.”
